On Friday 9th April 2021, La Soufrière volcano on mainland St. Vincent erupted explosively, blanketing the island in a layer of ash and forcing many thousands of people and families to evacuate from their homes. Smaller explosions continued over the weekend expelling further ash and causing disruption to water supplies and power on St. Vincent.
Bequia at the time of this post has been very fortunate with light ash deposits only and no damage. Staff members are safe, including displaced family members which we are assisting with housing and care.
Bequia Beach Hotel and BM Resorts will continue to actively assist & support national relief efforts in response to the La Soufrière Eruption.
Evacuated and displaced people in St. Vincent have limited access to basic necessities such as water, food and hygiene products and need urgent support.
