Expand your horizons with a trip to what locals call 'the mainland', after a gentle hour-long ferry trip to Kingstown, wander the streets and the markets full of fresh produce, fruit and vegetables before retreating up the hill to our sister property - Grenadine House for lunch on the patio terrace overlooking Kingstown.
To get the full St. Vincent unfiltered experience, book a taxi to explore further afield on St Vincent. Visit the Botanical Gardens, established 1765 and the oldest of it's kind in the Western hemisphere - most famous for being the destination of Captain Bligh's second visit to the Caribbean in 1798 (after his ill-fated first visit ended with the infamous mutiny on the Bounty) to introduce breadfruit to the island. A descendant of one of his original breadfruit trees thrives in today’s gardens.
For the more adventurous, hike the Vermont nature trail; take you through lush rainforest with an amazing variety of tropical flora, ending up with beautiful scenery and a chance to see the famous St. Vincent Parrot (Amazona guildingii) in its natural habitat.
Other destinations on St. Vincent include Fort Charlotte, Fort Duvernette, Dark View falls, Table Rock, La Soufriere volcano, and Wallilabou (the small village used in scenes inn Pirates of the Caribbean)
